Our providers often explain and demonstrate behavioral strategies that parents can use at home to improve functioning. Many of our behavioral recommendations are geared towards positive parenting and effective discipline strategies. We evaluate the underlying triggers of certain behaviors so that we can address the actual problem rather than simply focusing on the behavior itself. For example, a child may use physical aggression to communicate because they have limitations in their ability to communicate using words. We then recommend specific strategies to improve the way the child responds to triggers in his or her environment. If more intensive behavioral guidance is needed, a behavioral therapist is recommended.
